Obviously the children of the World continue to attack this site every now and then, for some misguided reason in their tiny little brains.
It is no big deal because the site is backed up everyday and can be restored in just a few minutes. Of course if they are looking for info, they are obviously beyond stupid, because there is absolutely nothing of consequence stored on this web server.
But be that as it may, I dumped a plugin that appeared to have some malicious code injected into it and I am continuing to search for the asshats attacking the server each night at roughly 8:30 pm. I have already identified 1 Chinese and 3 French IP addresses that are now blocked, but I am certain there are others.
That is pretty much it, except for someone did actually run an install on Demo Site 2, which I have since reset.
Now these folks have yet to set up their site, but I am hoping they will do something with it.
I have set them up with all the plugin’s they should have, but it is up to them whether or not they do anything with the site. You will notice they have their own domain name, so that means they are not stuck with a sub-domain and it is easily setup.
Obviously they have an advantage since they are friends of mine and they have a lot of personal access, but in truth, this stuff is pretty easy folks.
…and like most of the stuff I do here, it hasn’t been accessed, hasn’t had a registration and hasn’t even been defaced! (no, I am not asking for it to be hacked)
However folks this is a free, pre-built, but completely edititable site available to the first Asus fan that shows up to register and take over. Registration gets you admin rights and that means you can play away with themes, appearance and content.
So someone show some initiative and help relieve me of my conundrum, which is, do I just dump this virtual server? The answer should be no, but, after a week, I am having my doubts…the site is here!
I have no clue what the issue is. While it may simply be a connectivity issue such as a weak signal it is definitely not due to the equipment at my end.
The router and all associated connections are good. The actual cable modem passes a diagnostic, but the only cure seems to be unplugging the actual cable, which looks to be fine and re-plugging it in, then I get several hours of good connection.
The cable company claims there are no outages, but there are obviously issues.
I will keep everyone updated as soon as I have an answer.
